Blue Spear Solutions®, LLC is a privately owned business focused on providing customers with state of the art training and awareness related to preventative strategies and response for Active Shooter / Mass Casualty Incidents. We are dedicated to training both private and public sector stakeholders in tactics, techniques, and protocols that will increase victim survivability rates under these violent occurrences. Blue Spear has developed the Community Active Shooter Survivability Improvement Strategy and Training (Co. A.S.S.I.S.T.©) program, the nations first all encompassing Active Shooter training module. As a community stakeholder it is imperative that you take actions to help mitigate victimization and increase victim survivability rates.
Active Shooter events are unpredictable and usually ends within minutes. When police officers arrive on scene their responsibility is to track down and eliminate the threat. The responding police officers will not provide immediate medical aid to injured victims until only after the suspect(s) is neutralized. This policing practice is designed to reduce additional casualties. While this is a prudent policing practice it leaves victims to fend for themselves who typically have little or no training on treating trauma based injuries inflicted by gunfire. Over 40% of all Active Shooter victims are dying from otherwise survivable injuries. Victims are bleeding to death from wounds to the arms, legs, and upper torso that can be treated using basic Bleeding Control Techniques and
cost affordable equipment. The key element for increased victim survivability is the immediate responders’ (surrounding civilians) actions and skills. A significant trauma injury to the leg or arm can result in exsanguination – hemorrhage to death within 5 minutes or less. At Blue Spear Solutions®, LLC we train public and private sector stakeholders in the nation’s first all encompassing Active Shooter response training program, the Co. A.S.S.I.S.T.© Program. The Co. A.S.S.I.S.T.© Program consist of a three-tier systematic approach to preparation: (1) Active Shooter Awareness and Response, (2) Bleeding Control Techniques, and (3) Strategic Placement of Public Access Bleeding Control Stations.
